Good times for listed banks

WSE-listed banks are in for some more good quarters as the sector's results will be aided by a favorable business cycle leading to an increase in loan volumes and rising net interest margins, DM BOS brokerage analyst Michal Sobolewski tells the daily Parkiet.
In the coming quarters, banks should step up lending mostly thanks to the growth in the corporate segment, the expert adds. Interest margins will be rising only modestly on higher loan costs as banks are trying to raise the profitability of their credit portfolios, Sobolewski says.
Banks's shares are still viewed as worth buying in spite of the fact that most of the positive factors impacting the segment have already been priced in, Erste Securities analyst Mateusz Krupa says. Erste expects interest rates to rise by 0.5 pp in 2018, which will additionally help banks, Krupa adds.
