Wage growth sets new record

Poland's 7.4% year on year wage growth in October was the highest in nearly nine years, newspapers Puls Biznesu and Gazeta Wyborcza write. Apart from demand exceeding supply, the increase was caused by greater number of working days vs. last year, which boosted pay in industry and construction, according to mBank analysts.
The October result will strengthen the position of MPC hawks, but their potential motion for a rate hike will not gain majority support before H2 2018, BZ WBK analysts predict.
The pace of salary growth will slow down in the coming quarters and rising workforce shortages will negatively impact GDP, they add.
