Listed fuel group PKN Orlen is considering investments at its Lithuanian unit that would eliminate production of the heavy heating oil and increase output of diesel and gasoline, PKN Orlen press office said, as cited by Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
In 2020, legislation will take effect that will ban usage of heavy heating oil as fuel on ships. The scale of investment could match the PLN 2.3 billion spent by rival Lotos on its EFRA program, fuel sector expert Andrzej Szczesniak estimates.
