Polish farmers stand a chance of increased EU funding under the new Common Agricultural Policy and post-2020 EU's financial framework, but the scale of the support is yet unknown and depends also on the political clout of the Polish government during the expected negotiations, Director-General at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development Jerzy Plewa tells the daily Rzeczpospolita.
The Polish government is failing in its efforts to lobby for ample funds for the country's agricultural sector, the opposition parties' politicians with the former agriculture minister Marek Sawicki at the forefront claim, a charge repudiated by the current agriculture minister Krzysztof Jurgiel.
