The Polish Finance Ministry's top five priorities to 2020 include maintaining the stability and raising the efficiency of the state finances, further tightening of the tax collection system, improving the environment for entrepreneurship, developing "competitive advantages" of the Polish finance sector and raising its effectiveness, the daily Rzeczpospolita writes in an analysis of the department's newly published roadmap.
Improving business conditions and tightening the tax system may prove mutually exclusive as stricter fiscal requirements tend to burden entrepreneurs, chief economist of employers lobby Pracodawcy RP Lukasz Kozlowski observes.
The ministry would do better simplifying tax regulations, especially concerning VAT, employers lobby BCC's expert Wojciech Warski adds. The goals related to the state finances sound vague as they lack a clear game plan for fighting the budget deficit and cutting the treasury's fixed expenses, Warski says.
