Morawiecki with Orban
Poland can count on Hungary's opposition to any "confrontational measures" against Poland on the EU arena, deputy foreign minister for European affairs Konrad Szymanski told daily Rzeczpospolita following the Wednesday meeting of PM Mateusz Morawiecki with his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban.
Hungary's potential veto will protect Poland against loss of voting right in the Council of the EU, but not against declaring it a country permanently violating rule of law, the newspaper remarks.
Moreover, Germany and France may press Orban to reconsider his decision to defend Poland, head of Visegrad Insight institute Wojciech Przybylski predicts.
