A new investigation of the pogrom in Kielce July 4, 1946 was completed after five years, and ended Oct. 16.

During the pogrom, a mob enraged by rumors of an attempted ritual slaying of an eight-year-old Polish boy killed 42 Jews and injured another 40. Members of the secret police and the army also took part. The end of the new investigation, led by the Commission of Investigation Into Crimes Against the Polish Nation, raised nearly as many questions as it had answered.
