Marcin Cichy
Poland's telecom regulator UKE opposes the regulations proposed by the EU with the intent to reduce rates on calls to foreign numbers within the EU to the level of domestic call rates. UKE does not see the regulation as necessary, UKE head Marcin Cichy says in an opinion to the proposal to which the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna got access.
The reduction would mean the prices for such calls would be lower than telco operators' costs of the calls, the paper notes.
UKE rather supports recommending to telcos that they should reduce these prices and taking more rigorous measures only if the companies do not comply.
