Highest birth number in the decade

The number of children born in 2017 reached 403,000, up by 20,000 year on year and the highest result in the current decade, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily writes citing stats office GUS data.
Birth rate stood at 10.5, up by 0.6 year on year. The number of births in 2017 exceeded the number of deaths by 3.500 versus 1.100 in 2016. Average age of women having their first child is close to 30 years but their number will decline sharply in the coming years, the daily notes.
