Anna Azari
Poland and Israel should work towards bridging the gap in their relations caused by the recent conflict over the planned Polish legislation to penalize suggestions that Poles assisted in Nazi crimes against the Jewish people during World War II, Israeli ambassador to Poland Anna Azari tells the daily Rzeczpospolita.
Israel sees eye to eye with Poland when it comes to the fact that infamous death camps were built by German Nazis on the occupied Polish territory, Azari stresses.
At the same time, Israel fears situations in which witnesses to Holocaust could be penalized for sharing their memories of Poles who somehow harmed them, Azari says.
