Poland's hospitality market enjoyed a strong 2017 thanks to improvements in occupancy rates (to 83% from 82.2% in the capital cIty of Warsaw), room cost per night and revenue per available room, according to the data collected by consultancy STR cited by the daily Rzeczpospolita.
The market is about to grow as Warsaw is expected to add over 5,000 hotel rooms within the upcoming three years, Walter Herz analysts say. Costs are in for considerable increase in 2018, especially labor-related costs, plus a shortage of qualified personnel, Horwath HTL consultancy's Dariusz Futoma and deputy CEO of the Orbis Hotel Group Ireneusz Weglowski warn.
New investments might be impeded by rising land prices and increasing costs in the construction industry, Futoma adds.
