GDP growth may accelerate

Poland's GDP growth in 2018 could exceed the 4.6% recorded in 2017, BZ WBK economist Marcin Luzinski says as cited by the daily Puls Biznesu. Consumption should increase at a pace similar to the one observed last year and investments should beat the 2017 readings, Luzinski says.
Additionally, global economic conditions may improve, and this might pave the way for a better-than-2017 GDP print, according to the expert. Economists' optimistic expectations as to the GDP growth are accompanied by cautious forecasts concerning interest rate hikes, the daily observes. MPC members seem unmoved by the fast pace of GDP growth, Luzinski says.
Policy makers are also unlikely to hike rates on account of inflation as companies, faced with labor shortage, have to focus on investments as a means of increasing productivity, thereby reducing unit labor costs and inflationary pressure, Credit Agricole's chief economist Jakub Borowski explains.
