Czarnecki losing his post
February 9, 2018
Article's tools:

Ryszard Czarnecki
Poland's ruling party Law and Justice (PiS) politician Ryszard Czarnecki lost the position of the European Parliament's deputy chair following his controversial criticism addressed at a fellow MEP Roza Thun from Poland's biggest opposition party Civic Platform (PO), the daily Gazeta Wyborcza writes.
Czarnecki's dismissal, a precedent in the European Parliament's history, leaves PiS in trouble as to who it should propose as his replacement, the daily adds. Prominent PiS MEPs, including Anna Fotyga and Ryszard Legutko, are reluctant to compete for the post, while Karol Karski and Jadwiga Wisniewska are named among potential nominees in the run for the seat emptied by Czarnecki.
