Liberal opposition party Nowoczesna will not seek unification with its more conservative peer Civic Platform (PO) and is betting on cooperation instead, signals from within the party suggests, despite suggestions from PO leader Grzegorz Schetyna that electorates of the two parties may want unification, Rzeczpospolita writes.
Most of Nowoczesna's voters are highly critical of the PO-Polish Peoples Party (PSL)'s second term in office and see PO-Nowoczesna alliance as a deal for just one election, Nowoczesna leader Katarzyna Lubnauer stressed.
Nowoczesna is in the process of building a coalition with PO with a view to a joint run in elections to regional assemblies. At the moment, the two parties are working towards creating a common program for the municipal elections due November, Lubnauer added.
