Krzysztof Tchorzewski
A merger between Polish fuel groups PKN Orlen and Lotos would pose a heavy challenge, especially in terms of European Commissin notification, Minister of Energy Krzysztof Tchorzewski said in an interview.
The European Commission once opposed consolidation in the power industry, demanding four groups instead of the planned three, so combining two firms already considered dominant would likely meet resistance, he said.
No works or analyses are underway at the Ministry and any work that may have been done at the corporate level was inspired at the ministry, Tchorzewski said in comment to recent reports.
Tchorzewski is pleased with PKN Orlen's decision to participate in Poland's nuclear energy project.
