Governing party Law and Justice (PiS) has suffered a setback in its justice system reform policy as judges nationwide balked at the chance to register for a reconstituted National Judicary Council (KRS), Rzecpzospolita daily reports.
PiS had likely hoped that it could create divisions within the judiciary and find young judges willing to replace older members removed by the reform. While that tactic appeared to have worked in the overall court reform, where individuals stepped forward to take court president positions where the govenment fired existing staff, it brought only 18 candidacies to the KRS.
