Retirement age reduction issue

Average pension benefit for people who took advantage of the retirement age reduction stand at PLN 2080 versus PLN 2170 average from before the reduction was introduced, head of social insurance board ZUS Gertruda Uscinska told Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily in an interview.
In the case of men the average stands at PLN 2700, in the case of women at PLN 1610. As many as 34,000 of those who retired was granted a pension benefit below the minimum level, Uscinska underlined.
The group of such beneficiaries in the entire system is currently at 166.600 and growing rapidly and Poland should quickly find a solution to the problem, she said.
The number of retired Poles could exceed 5.7 million at end 2018 as 221,000 Poles will be entitled to reitre this year, including 148,000 on account of the lowered retirement age, Uscinska added.
