Coal miner Prairie Mining sees extraction of semi-soft coking coal, known as Type 34 coal, at 75% of its total output at the planned Jan Karski mine in Poland's eastern Lubelskie province, the daily Rzeczpospolita writes.
As a result, Prairie will be selling its produce - currently in short supply across the EU - at a higher price, CEO Ben Stoikovich says as cited by the daily, while stressing high demand of European steel industry for such type of coal.
Prairie Mining will likely benefit from the favorable business outlook for coking coal producers for the next year or two, but the situation on the market in a somewhat longer perspective is hard to predict, head of analysis at brokerage DM BDM Maciej Bobrowski comments.
