The Polish government will fully launch its rent-to-own housing support program Mieszkanie Plus once rules concerning the functioning of the national land bank are modified, deputy development and investments minister Artur Sobon tells the daily Rzeczpospolita.
Tenants will be able to buy the rented apartments, contrary to recent media speculations, he adds. The scale of the state subsidy to the rent for apartments built under the program is still being discussed, Sobon says, dismissing rumors of PLN 20-30 per square meter.
Poland's plotted special housing bill is intended to increase the availability of land plots for housing investments, allow construction works on sites with no local zoning plan, and reduce the bureaucratic burdens for developers, among other things, according to the deputy minister.
