Poland recorded a PLN 8.6 billion state budget surplus after January chiefly thanks to budget spending settling at just 6.7% of the annual target vs. 7.9% a year ago, daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna writes commenting on the official data out Wednesday.
Contributions to social insurance fund FUS shrank more than tenfold year on year to slightly over PLN 500 million. The finance ministry puts it down to high pension premium inflows resulting from very good labor market situation, but the decline may also have been caused by booking a part of January FUS expenses in late 2017, according to DGP.
