Property restitution law to be changed
March 6, 2018
Article's tools:

The Polish government will likely relaunch works on the property restitution bill in the coming months, as ruling party Law and Justice (PiS) hopes the legislation will help it win elections in large cities, such as Warsaw, Krakow and Lodz, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna writes, citing two sources close to the government.
However, the bill will be altered to allow seeking compensation for lost property for all persons, and their heirs, that held Polish citizenship at the moment of losing the property. The earlier version of the bill assumed that only the current citizens of Poland would be able to seek compensation, which raised protests among Jewish organizations.
