Poland's developers are protesting against antitrust and consumer protection watchdog UOKiK's plans to abolish the so called open trust accounts that allow housing developers to tap buyers' money gradually in the course of investments. Abolishing the open accounts would allow developers to take advantage of the money only after the investment is finished, leading to the higher use of bank credit, increased costs and higher apartment prices, Ronson Development management board member Andrzej Gutowski warns. The proposal would create problems for smaller firms with weaker access to capital, he warns.
