Listed mining equipment maker Famur will focus on rebuilding its margins in 2018 in order to prepare the company for foreign expansion, mainly via strategic partnerships and alliances, company officials told a press conference.
"We want to devote 2018 mainly to finalizing integration with Kopex and taking advantage of positive market trends we see," CEO Miroslaw Bendzera said. "After very difficult years we want to rebuild margins so that the company is ready - also financially - to realize the foreign expansion process."
"In the following years we want to focus mainly on developing operations, using group's potential and gradual building of our position as a global player on all markets, where mining is developing," the CEO said.
In the first place Famur wants to develop alliances or strategic partnerships in the US, Canada and Australia, officials also said.
"On mature mining markets, such as US or Australia there is a number of mid-size companies we have preliminarily identified," deputy CEO Bartosz Bielak said. "Talks continue and in the coming quarters we will certainly want to return to the market with details."
The company could also consider acquisitions, although of smaller entities which "will not require involving very large financial means" and will provide "fast return on investment," the CEO added.
