President Andrzej Duda
Poland did have a plan to organize a meeting of President Andrzej Duda and the US leader Donald Trump some time in 2018, but it had to be abandoned due to a strife in Polish-American relations caused by the contested anti-defamation law, the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna writes, citing unofficial information from government insiders. On Tuesday President Andrzej Duda met with PM Mateusz Morawiecki, head of PM chancellery Michal Dworczyk, foreign affairs minister Jacek Czaputowicz and head of presidential chancellery Krzysztof Szczerski to discuss the current discord on the line Poland-US. It was agreed during the meeting that Szczerski will go to the US this week to meet with the US Department of State officials but Poland has no high hopes it will alleviate the tense situation, according to Gazeta Wyborcza daily.
