Poland to face wages hike demands?
March 14, 2018
Article's tools:

Poland's government is facing wage hike demands from across the public sector, having recently granted such hikes to resident physicians, the daily Rzeczpospolita wrote. Among groups calling for an increase in earnings are teachers, civil servants in the army, police, sanitary inspection or courts. Strikes of teachers cannot be ruled out if the government fails to launch wage negotiations, unions representatives warn.
Poland's public sector may face workforce erosion if the government fails to hike wages, PKO BP economist Marta Petka-Zagajewska warns in Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily. Wage differences between the private and the public sector may lead to a negative selection of staffing in the latter sector, she said.
