Minister Mariusz Błaszczak
President Andrzej Duda and the Defense Ministry now share the same vision when it comes to commanding armed forces, Duda said last week. Relations between Duda and the ministry have visibly improved after the former defense minister Antoni Macierewicz's dismissal and his replacement by Mariusz Blaszczak. Among plans for the Polish army, Duda announced the army headcount will be increased but failed to provide any numbers. Blaszczak focused on army modernization and realization of purchase plans from years 2013-2017. Poland will soon sign a contract for an anti-missile system within the "Wisla" program, Blaszczak said, underlining it will be the biggest contract in the history of Polish defense.
