Borys Budka in Sejm
Opposition party Nowoczesna proposes to unite all opposition factions in the 2019 parliamentary elections, according to declarations made by Nowoczesna secretary general Adam Szlapka at the sitting of the party's national board in Warsaw. The united opposition would pledge to mend Polish top judiciary institutions following a potential victory in the election and agree on reducing parties' influence in individual ministries. The top opposition party Civic Platform (PO) sees the proposal as worth discussing and a potential coalition of opposition factions as a chance to stand against ruling party law and Justice (PiS), PO deputy leader Borys Budka commented. Agrarian PSL and leftist SLD, the latter currently outside parliament, do not reject the proposal but see the discussion on the topic as premature, their representatives said.
