Poland's #1 lender by assets PKO BP may make another attempt to take over smaller rival Bank Pocztowy, as Poczta Polska, the current owner of the smaller lender, wants to sell a portion of its stake to raise money for wage hikes and investments in the courier business, Parkiet reports. The sale is also supported by Poczta Polska's unions. Offer to buy a stake was directed not only to PKO BP, which currently holds a 25% stake in Pocztowy and tried to increase it several times over the past ten years, but also to its rival Pekao, Parkiet found out. Pekao denies any interest in buying Pocztowy, though.
