Poland's national power grid operator PSE eyes spending PLN 13 billion on investments to 2027 with a view to increasing its potential to absorb power from renewable sources, CEO Eryk Klossowski tells the daily Rzeczpospolita.
PSE targets absorbing up to 8 GW of power from wind farms and ca. 3.9 GW from a nuclear power plant, he adds, while stressing that detailed planning in the wind power sector will be preceded by a survey among the market participants slated for April.
PSE is mulling three new connections between Poland's power grindned neighboring power systems of Denmark, Sweden and Lithuania, but talks are in their initial stage, Klossowski says.
Poland will give up on building a third power connection with Germany for now in order to avoid straining of its internal grid capacity, he says. PSE is after a new gas-powered block in order to balance the system's output capacities as early as in 2019-2020 following disconnection of some coal blocks.
