The Polish government would have to spend over PLN 6 billion to meet the key demands of protesting disabled person caregivers, according to government estimates.
The finance ministry should present proposals of financing the demands from a special solidarity levy for the highest earners within 2 weeks, PM Mateusz Morawiecki said April 22.
Possible scenarios include funding the support by adding a 39% tax rate for income above PLN 300,000, abolishing the cap on social insurance premiums, adding a new social insurance premium and introducing a new property or luxury tax, daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna writes.
The new levy could be introduced starting from 2019.
