Poland's structural deficit is seen growing by 0.7 pps year on year to 2.8% of GDP in 2018, thus moving further away from the 1% threshold recommended by the European Commission, according to the latest convergence program update draft accessed by Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily.
The higher structural spending will erase the country's tax tightening efforts, the newspaper remarks. The current and expected gap between structural deficit and general government deficit clearly shows that Poland owes its good state finance condition to the very favorable economic situation.
