Konrad Szymanski
The Polish government will object to any proposal shifting cohesion funds from the CEE to southern Europe, deputy Foreign Minister Konrad Szymanski told Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily in a comment to EC plans for the new budget pool.
The Cohesion Policy serves Europe well and cannot fall victim of political problems in the south and internal inconsistencies of the euro zone, he argued.
According to new EU proposals, cohesion funds might be directed to regions with high youth unemployment, high immigrant inflows etc., although GDP levels will remain the main criterion.
