Poland is facing an over EUR 5-15 billion slash in EU funds available from the 2021-2027 EU budget vs. EUR 77 billion from the current EU budget pool, daily Rzeczpospolita writes of accessed assumptions for the new budget.
The two main reasons are a Brexit-related 7-20% cut of the next budget pool vs. the present one and the fact that more and more Polish regions face losing access to cohesion policy funding due to their growing wealth. Poland will also receive less EU money due to a change of methodology. It will become a net contributor to the EU budget in 2027, according to an unspecified EU source cited by the newspaper.
