Frans Timmermans
Poland has so far failed to appease Brussels in the conflict regarding the controversial judiciary reform as the changes adopted by Poland "have not removed the systemic threat to the rule of law in Poland," EU Commissioner Frans Timmermans said on May 14 during the first discussion of the EU states ministers on the 2021-27 EU budget.
"There is progress, but insufficient," he said. Timmermans hopes for "concrete" proposals already at the next EU minister council sitting slated for June 26. The politician sees a number of options ranging from ending the rule of law procedure through "intermediate options" to launching the second stage of the procedure.
