Poland's biggest discount chain Biedronka, owned by Portugal's Jeronimo Martins, has entered cooperation with Danish parcel machines operator SwipBox to build an extensive machines network in Biedronka stores nationwide, according to Jeronimo Martins press office.
Biedronka plans to make space available for parcel machines in some 300 stores by end-September as a test run. In the long term, Biedronka could have machines in up to 2,000 of its stores.
Biedronka's and SwipBox's plans will likely mean a shakeup for the Polish parcel machines market, analysts comment. SwipBox plans to give access to its machines to various operators with DHL, DPD, FedEx and Poczta Polska already competing for the contract.
