Pawel Borys
The Polish government hopes that changes made to the draft bill introducing employer-sponsored pension schemes PPK will allow for building a social compromise around PPK, head of state investment fund PFR Pawel Borys said during a debate hosted by Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
Among other changes, Poland prolonged to 4 from 2 years the period when PPK participation is renewed, introduced a clause that means gathered in PPK are private and a solution encouraging the lowest earners to take part in PPK, Borys enumerated.
Contributions paid by the lowest earners will be reduced but Poland is still analyzing whether the premium on the side of employer could be increased in this case, he said, pointing to constitutional doubts regarding equality of such a solution.
If 50% of the entitled to PPK take part in the scheme, "it will be a success," according to Borys, who also expressed hope that gradually participation will increase, as was the case in other countries where similar solutions were introduced.
