Poland's white goods producers suffered a 4% decline quantity-wise, 3% value-wise in sales to retailers, the daily Rzeczpospolita writes of the data collected by home appliance manufacturers lobby APPLiA Polska.
The decline comes on the back of waning impact of the family support program 500+ as consumers have likely satisfied their needs for new equipment soon after the launch of the program, thereby creating a high base effect, anonymous sector representative remarks.
Sunday retail trade ban also took its toll, another unnamed interlocutor adds. The outlook for the sector remains upbeat, though, as solid economic growth and strong consumption are expected to translate into long-term sound sales of white goods, according to Zygmunt Lopalewski of Whirlpool Company Polska.
