Protest for disabled suspended

Protesters demanding greater state support for disabled persons suspended their protest on May 27 and left the parliament after 40 days, all major Polish newspapers report.
The government earlier agreed to level disability allowance for people who never worked with the minimum general disability allowance, but consistently refused to meet the protesters' demand for a PLN 500 monthly bonus for disabled persons.
The ruling camp thus showed it will not succumb to any pressure, but may have alienated some voters with its insensitivity, according to commentators.
