Polish retailers are concerned that recently passed changes to the law, which allow for issuing a VAT invoice only based on cash register receipts containing a tax identification number (NIP) of a client, will force them to replace cash registers with new ones.
While the Finance Ministry explains that clients are now obliged to declare willingness of obtaining an invoice at the time of purchase, allowing the seller to issue an invoice rather than a receipt, retailers point to inconsistencies in the law.
