Gertruda Uscinska
The Polish government wants to solve the issue of the lowest pensions (below the minimum pension level) as they fail to guarantee any support while generating costs for the system, social security board ZUS head Gertruda Uscinska told Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily.
Poland wants to provide pension benefits only to those who paid social security premiums from at least a minimum wage for at least 10 years, while those who paid premiums for a shorter period of time would get the money they gathered once they turn 70.
At present 234,000 pensions or 3% of the total are below the minimum level.
