Listed telecom Netia complained to the European Commission about Poland's telecom market regulator UKE possibly curbing competitiveness on the domestic market by deregulating the Wholesale Line Rental sector entirely dominated by listed telco Orange Polska, Netia wrote in an official complaint to the European Commission accessed by the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
UKE has so far controlled the fees paid by other operators to Orange for accessing their network with a view to offering fixed line to customers, but wants to give up on the practice due to the diminishing numbers of fixed line users.
UKE will likely issue a final decision on the matter in the autumn, but no change in its stance should be expected, spokesperson Martin Stysiak suggests.
