Average pensions lower

Poland recorded a decline in average pensions in H1 2018 vs. Q4 2017 by over PLN 100 for men and PLN 170 for women, according to social insurance board ZUS data covering the period after retirement age reduction.
Apart from the retirement age cut, the downward trend also results from the fact some 16% of Poles requesting ZUS data on their pension size in 2018 still worked at the time, which distorts the statistics.
Moreover, the number of pensioners has increased faster as people above the new retirement age, but below the former one, were allowed to retire.
