800 MHz frequency battle

Telecom group Cyfrowy Polsat stands a fair chance of securing 800 MHz frequency for its subsidiary Sferia even if it refuses to pay the PLN 1.73 billion reservation fee demanded by Poland's office of electronic communications UKE, the daily Parkiet wrote citing analysts' opinions on the matter.
The Polish government will likely put up the frequency band for auction, while at the same time excluding Cyfrowy's main rivals Orange and T-Mobile from bidding due to antitrust concerns, Ipopema Securities analyst Marcin Nowak said.
Telco Play may have no money to effectively fight for the band, Nowak added.
