Teresa Czerwinska
The Polish government sees 2018 as the likely peak of the current favorable business cycle amid "conservative" macroeconomic forecasts from the Ministry of Finance, Minister of Finance Teresa Czerwinska told reporters.
"I often say that our forecasts are cautious and conservative," Czerwinska said when asked about Poland's chances to sport a 5% GDP growth in 2018. "High optimism would not be advised here, but I do keep my fingers crossed for that 5% [growth]," she added.
"According to my calculations, 2018 is going to be the peak of the business cycle," Czerwinska added.
"Towards the end of next week, a final draft of the budget bill will appear," Czerwinska said. "The [2019] budget will be presented for the first time around August 20-22, 2018, these are the expectations more or less," she added, while stating that PM Mateusz Morawiecki is yet to set the date for the bill's presentation.
In 2018, the Ministry of Finance wants to prepare a budget bill earlier than in previous years, Czerwinska said.
"We have accelerated in relation to the previous year; however, we still do not have the final draft," she explained.
