Eryk Klossowski
Poland faces no risk of power shortages in August due to the current heatwave, national grid operator PSE CEO Eryk Klossowski told a conference.
"Luckily, our short-term analyses of production sufficiency show that there is no threat to the country's electricity balance in August this year," Klossowski said.
At the same time, the ongoing heatwave results in an increased strain on the system due to the growing volume of air-conditioned space, while also causes overload to the 110 kV and 220 kV lines.
"Heatwave also limits the activity of some power plant blocks, especially blocks with an open system, cooled with water from rivers or lakes and not by means of cooling towers," Klossowski explained.
