Polish President Andrzej Duda will meet the representatives of minor opposition parties and movements on August 13, to discuss the contested changes to Poland's rules of electing members of the European Parliament as proposed by the ruling party Law and Justice (PiS), the daily Gazeta Wyborcza wrote.
President, who has already openly expressed his doubts about the changes, will likely announce next week that he is going to veto the bill, the daily Rzeczpospolita found out. Duda may have made the decision in an attempt to retaliate against PiS for grounding his idea of a constitutional referendum, the newspaper Polska The Times speculates.
Duda is expected to announce his decision concerning the possible veto on August 16 at the latest, presidential top aide Krzysztof Szczerski told the public radio broadcaster Program 1.
