Power plants to pay more for coal

Polish coal miners are likely to hike coal prices for professional power plants as the country's coal price indices may rise at the turn of 2018 and 2019, DM BDM analyst Maciej Bobrowski says as cited by the daily Parkiet. Listed coal company Bogdanka is expected to hike prices by 5% percent this year and by another 5% in 2019 as it sells mostly to parent company Enea and thus has limited options to negotiate stakes, Noble Securities analyst Michal Sztabler explains.
Substantial price hikes would also be frowned upon by the Ministry of Energy as they would translate into an increase in energy prices, Sztabler adds.
