Power utility Energa added some 550 new jobs in group's parent company in H1 as part of the ongoing group integration to bring total employment to over 9,500 in late June.
The process is already producing over PLN 10 million in economies of scale and the benefits should reach tens of millions of PLN by end-year, according to CFO Jacek Koscielniak.
Poland's largest energy group PGE boosted employment by 7% (or nearly 3,200 people) in 2017 due to takeover of the Polish arm of French giant EDF.
Peer Enea took on ca. 630 employees of acquired firms last year, while power utility Tauron slashed average employment by over 900.
The power industry is unlikely to cut jobs before 2020 due to the approaching election marathon and strong position of trade unions, daily Rzeczpospolita speculated.
