The Polish government wants to hike minimum wage to PLN 2255 in 2019 versus the initial plan for PLN 2220, Rzeczpospolita daily wrote of own findings after the government officials meeting with Poland's major trade union Solidarnosc.
The cabinet will approve the increase at its next week's sitting, according to the daily. Currently the minimum wage stands at PLN 2100.
The ruling party Law and Justice (PiS) and Solidarnosc are looking for a way to hike wages for public sector employees with the lowest wages and could come up with a new algorithm of granting hikes. The government wants to retain lowest-earning officials in public services key to public safety and law enforcement.
