The Polish government could spend PLN 6 billion on local roads in 2019 thanks to launching the local road fund FDS, government officials told a news conference.
"We will spend PLN 6.085 billion on [local] roads in 2019," Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk said after the cabinet adopted a bill setting up the fund.
"I think that by 2028 we will spend at least PLN 36 bln," Minister of Investments and Development Jerzy Kwiecinski said.
The fund will operate for 10 years and will provide up to 80% of a given investment's cost.
On September 17 the Finance Ministry said at least ca. PLN 3.5 billion from the central budget will be allocated for local road investments in 2019.
The government wants the fund to be fueled with receipts from Treasury bonds and transfers from the state budget, national environment protection fund NFOSiGW and state forests authority Lasy Panstwowe, among others.
